Cheren’s not up yet but I think he will be making a few calls today. He wants to book a round-trip flight to Sinnoh. He plans on staying for a week to visit his palemate and catch up.

He also wants to tell Crystal about the confirmation that the champions will have an exhibition tournament. He’ll get her and the Mister tickets if she’d like.

So, end-of-the-year evaluations are over. It consisted of a written test (Monday) and a skill test (Tuesday). Today was mainly for those old enough to start their journeys—if they passed both tests, they got to challenge Cheren to an official gym battle. Now that trainer’s school is over for the year, the kids can focus on end-of-the year stuff for their academic schools. Some of them still volunteered to help at the gym over the summer, though.

Overall, I think the kids did really well and he’s proud of them. He looks tired but there’s a content smile on his face. He won’t tell me who he gave badges to, though he assures me each of them earned it.

I… Am mixed about doing this but I already think about Cheren hanging out with Belle, so I hope it doesn’t hurt to headcanon about his other two friends. Unlike the situation with Belle, in which I interacted with about three different ones on pt, I pretty much only had Christian’s Touya and Nat’s Touko. I remember some things about their characters, so I hope how I imagine them now is close.

I am not as certain about where Touko is, since i didn’t get to interact with her that much near the last few months. Unless I’m mistaken, I think Touko was working at the Straition cafe? I sort of imagine that she has been thinking of moving on from that job, or taking a break to see the world for herself. Touya has, so why can’t she? I also imagine that she might check up on N every once in a while, to make sure he isn’t lonely.

I remember Christian liking the idea of Touya and Touko taking over the battle subway one day, so I can kind of see him working/battling there! He probably wants to go traveling again (two years of it wasn’t enough since it was done with the anxiety to find someone)? Maybe that will be his plan in the summer.

With this as premise, I’m pretty damn sure Cheren has been making plans with his bro to help him train for PWT. Even if he lost to him all the time, I’m sure Touya taught him something each time. They were probably working out when they can meet and train together. And maybe Touya and Touko would be interested in the amateur tournaments to battle in the big one in the summer? (I really wish the protags had cameos in PWT)

The Driftveil Tournament was a preview for the Regional and World Leader Tournaments that occurred in January. The latter tournaments were exclusively gym leaders only.

This summer would be the Type Expert tournaments, and to get fans involved, there are amateur tournaments going on right now. About four trainers for each type are chosen to participate the major tournaments in the summer, going against gym leaders, too.

Also, I think Clay would try to get the champions to agree to an exhibition tournament on the last day.

Why I’m figuring this out I don’t know

He is determined to beat Ruby at a pokemon battle before the PWT Type Experts this summer. Just once would be enough.

I remember one of the first posts I made on this blog was about if he envies Ruby’s skills as a trainer, and he does a little because he expects more from himself. He still has this complex toward protags, but I don’t think it is as bad as before.

He has accepted that he’ll probably never defeat Touya or Touko, but recently he realized he can’t settle on never beating Ruby. He recognizes his natural skills for battling and he’s had more experience than him, so it makes sense for Ruby to be better. But it’s just something he wants to prove, I guess. That he deserves being a gym leader.

… Actually, I think he wants to prove it to him as much as he wants to prove it to himself.

Trying to master the Normal Type Expert tournament and I keep losing jfndkdk I got a sawsbuck that has helped me win against Whitney and Lenora most of the time but I keep losing to Cheren and Norman sighs

Things I learned about Mr. Fisher’s class last Tuesday

Marion doesn’t respect him enough so she calls him Cheren as if she knows him or exaggerates the “Mister”, and she’s been following Ruby’s modeling career for a couple of years (so meeting him in person was just the best ~~now if only he would ditch the nerd~~)
The youngest ones are convinced that Mr. Akamatsu is the Twelfth Doctor (just as those same ones now believe Ms. Vella and Mr. Fisher are Jedi knights)
In other words, they are gullible oops
Rodney gets super excited, so much that sometimes he loses track of what he wants to ask (other students try to get him back on track)
Becca is my favorite because she’s like the unofficial TA looking out for the little ones and not just her cousin ;w; there’s more to her than that though—ahhh she’s just a really minor oc but I almost want to figure out her whole background

Still have to compile the RP (and think of a reply/ending gomen fjaksldfj) so more things may pop up but from memory

Yesterday, Cheren took the trainers school kids on a overnight field trip to the Nature Preserve with Belle. The two co-taught the group about the pokemon that lived there, as well as helped the kids practice some camping skills. Ruby ended up tagging along much to Mr. Fisher’s annoyance, showing up last minute in Mistralton on Matoko with coffee for the teachers and the pilot. Skyla also thought it would be fun to stay overnight with the group, rounding off the chaperones at four.

It seems like the kids had a lot of fun, and took advantage of the opportunities they had. They got to see a bunch of pokemon they haven’t seen before—including a trio of gyarados two of the kids accidentally angered ffvjvbkfx The chaperones took care of it though. Everyone stayed safe.

Seeing as how the kids found out about their anniversary the other day, the younger girls tried pestering Mr. Fisher and Mr. Akamatsu about that. (Marion was especially aggressive with hinting that Rubbs should just drop Cheren already ugh) Skyla was especially popular with the boys, but everyone seemed to be fond of Belle.

I can’t help but think Mr. Akamatsu gave a bonus lesson on constellations that night since the stars must’ve been so clear. I also think the chaperones’ pokemon were on guard, circling the camp just in case.

They got back this morning, and I guess that they all had Thursday off for some reason? So yeah, no school. Which works because I think Cheren passed out when they got home (he didn’t sleep while they were there. Hm.)

His day-to-day has been a blur lately, consisting of the same faces and places set to the beat of routine. He could argue that things have always been like that; he moves in clockwork with everything timed for completion as needed and barely enough room for leniency.

He could speak of the nuances that distinguish March from February, or even today from Wednesday, like which kids trained in the gym on Tuesday, and what the topics were in lecture. He could remember that it was a week ago that the usual lady at the Chinatown market was ill at home that afternoon, and bargaining with her husband was rougher than he expected. That, three days later, there was an accordion player from Nacrene playing on Castelia Street, garnering attention from curious passerbys. As for today, he was greeted by a familiar face - a friend eager to discuss the prospect of a field trip for the kids. She packed the two of them lunch, suspecting he wasn’t eating enough, as usual.

Winter is melting away. It’s been a while since he’s gone swimming, he thinks aloud once the business part is over. The destination and day are tentative, but will be confirmed as soon as they get the clear. She smiles and asks when was the last time they all went to the beach. All of them?

At least two, three years ago.

They shouldn’t wait for summer, they agree. Besides, she has the research project to wrap up, and aren’t there summer tournaments at PWT he’s been invited to? He coughs like the reminder got stuck in his throat. He hasn’t begun training for that yet.

Weren’t the regional tournaments just a few weeks ago?

He straightens his tie, then digs into a drawer to find the invitation. Type Masters is the next theme.

Spring break at the beach, then. It’ll be here in no time.
